Acceptance and Aging Gracefully

Just in case you missed it, the Creative Intelligence who has a part in putting us together is quite a benevolent being. This makes the acceptance of aging and doing it gracefully an easy endeavor if we do it right.
I remember being a young woman and looking at my older counterparts to see what I’d have to look forward to in the aging process.
Some days (OK, most) I was aghast! Didn’t they realize they had a hair sticking out of their chin? Didn’t they notice that their eyebrow was a little crooked. Or that their blush was applied too heavy?
One of the beauties of aging is that a lot of us have been graced (yup, I said graced) with fading eyesight. So no, we didn’t realize … In fact, we thought we looked pretty darn good!
And, you know what? We don’t care either because, thankfully, something else that fades is my old nemesis, the ever popular perfectionist streak. So now, not only do we not see it, we just don’t give a damn, thank you very much. And in fact, that five pounds we sweated over at twenty actually looks pretty good on us now! So there!
As you can see, this is also backed up with that awakening attitude called “I deserve it, do you know how many years I’ve been on this planet doing this schtick?” Or is that menopause? Ack!
Regardless, as we age our perspective shifts more toward balance. For me, that’s a blessing. I would not want to go back to being that young hyper aware woman for anything. More often than not, I am at peace with my life and that’s just the way I like it.
