Keeping My Consciousness Clean

I have been thinking about my previous posts this week, only to realize I seem to be on a bit of a tirade about the media messing with my consciousness. Can you blame me? I know that what is presented on the news and in the papers is so sensationalized that it’s hard not to watch, but do you think it’s really good for us?

I mean, think about it. All the negativity is gathered up in one place for our viewing pleasure. And then by being open to it and assimilating it in our minds, it’s like we give the negativity permission to root there. And, at the same time, we become a conduit for it, passing it on to friends and acquaintances alike. This is not a good thing.

And here’s a news flash for you, what we see and read is not necessarily true!

I have been on the other side as an editor of a small business publication. The reviews I wrote of products really had nothing to do with the quality of said product. It more had to do with how big the suppliers’ pockets were for advertising with us. I wasn’t writing about what was good for us but what was good for the company I worked for.

It may seem like I’m against all types of media and think that mainstream media is inherently evil. While that may pretty much be the truth, it’s not my intended message.

I just really want to say that we need to be more aware of what we let into our minds and not be entirely dependant on other’s viewpoints. Keep your consciousness clean!
