How I’ll Get Motivated Again

Sometimes I wonder why the heck I write this stuff. I’m no expert, I have no degrees and at times, I can be bloody boring.
Sure, I drank and drugged for years, lived life as a quasi-bad ass and then straightened up my act.
Sure I quit every bad habit I’ve had, and now live a life of purity and self congratulation. (Oh, I can so sarcastic at times.)
Sure, I’ve been addicted to spiritual and self help writings since I was in my teens. I’ve chased a few guru’s to the other side and back. Yes, I’ve tried it all at home and alone too.
Sure, I’ve had my fair share of miracles. (They are there if you watch for them). I’ve also had knock down, drag out fights with God and lived to tell the tale without getting struck by that highly anticipated bolt of lightening.
Some days I feel like a fake writing this stuff ’cause I don’t feel too cheerful nor too motivated. Yeah, make lemonade out of lemons. God, sometimes I think if I write that saying one more time, I will retch till I absolutely can’t retch anymore.
I also get intimidated when reading my supposed colleagues, like Dave Navarro or Clay Collins. They are so brilliant and prolific. How do they do it?
Anyway, back to me, ’cause it’s my pity party.
So, who cares? Who wants my advice? Who’s interested in my version of the truth?
And then I realized it doesn’t matter who else it’s for. In the end, it’s for me and my growth.
But thanks for reading anyway.
PS the next book on my reading list after Tim Ferriss’s The Four Hour Work Week and Darren Rowse’s The ProBlogger
is Seth Godin’s The Dip
. It just might come in handy. Ya think?

I was wondering where the decorations went from my last pity party!
It’s your party and you can cry, rant, rave or emit feel good vibes. I came to the rude awakening recently that some days I write stuff that sucks and that’s okay because I’m writing and growing and learning and if people are willing to take the journey with me, but even if I make it alone, I will make it. Thanks for shamelessly self promoting this on Twitter.
I love this post.

Hey Karen, thanks for being so supportive. That’s very kind of you and I appreciate it!
Yes, some days are not so enlightening and brilliant. And so be it. Like you said, it’s all about the journey.
Thank you.
Consider someone like Paulo Coelho. During his lifetime, he has exprimented with drugs, the occult and witchcraft, among esoteric arts. He writes about expanding his senses and his existence is enriched. Each human being has free will to learn, stretch and and share wisdom. It can be a challenge to choose not to judge, criticize and doubt your own choices. Each one is meaningful for what it is ‘in the now.’ Your spirit benefits from every part of you, including the explorer within.
Wow Liara. You are so eloquent and kind.
I love Paulo Coelho’s books so your comments are well received.
Thanks for the uplifting words.

The secret? There is no secret. Some days S-U-C-K.
You just gotta keep going. We’re not all-day powerhouses. You just keep on keepin’ on and the good days begin to outnumber the bad. But the bad ones are there, make no mistake.
Listening to Billy Joel’s “You’re Only Human (Second Wind)” helps too.

Thanks for the inspiration Dave.
It’s helpful to know, especially when you’re sitting at your pity party thinking you’re the only one.
And I love Billy Joel! Thanks for the reminder.
You write because you want to. I read because I want to. You ask yourself what makes you worthy? Do you ask yourself why you are not an accountant? Both stupid questions.
Add Richard Bach to your reading list.

Ah Vimoh, Bach is an old standard of mine. You’re right, great reading.
Thanks for the support. Your a doll!
